Fall has arrived here with cooler temperatures, some rain, and a lot of WIND! We actually turned the fireplace on last night during Monday night football (okay, I was doing genealogy on my iPhone…). We haven’t made it up to Flagstaff to see the aspens- so here’s an image from last year.
I never know what to call these stick tepee things I often see on our walks- nor do I understand why they are there. But- the autumn light coming through the trees called out to me to take this photo.
On our last trip up to Flagstaff, we experienced two seasons in less than 24 hours! This is the morning after the huge snowstorm/thunderstorm which kept waking us up during the night. The snow was still lightly falling when I took this photo.
Another photo from Aspen Corner- this time from our second trip this month. It was mid-to-late afternoon, the sun was shining brightly, and the wind was just beginning to pick up, heralding the snowstorm to come.
Notes: Those are my husband’s fingers (I am not coordinated enough to hold the camera and glass ball at the same time- and I didn’t bring my tripod)! And this image won third place at my photo club this month!
Here is yet another image from our last trip up to Flagstaff. We are hoping to get up there again this week; there’s a chance of snow, so fingers crossed!
As we walked on the path through the trees, the sun started peeking through the clouds, creating spots of sunlight among the aspens on this overcast day. We are hoping for good weather next week when we make the trek up to Flagstaff once more on our quest for fall color.
When starting our walk at Aspen Corner, we saw indications that others had been there before us.
We had heard that the aspens were beginning to turn up at Flagstaff, so we headed up there yesterday to see what we could see. As you can tell from the photo, there are signs that Fall is on its way, but we will have to make a return trip to see the aspens in all their glory. Have I mentioned that Fall is my favorite season?
For the month of November, our church has been having us keep track of all the things we are grateful for- writing them down and saying them out loud. I am grateful for my wonderful family and friends- and this month especially I am grateful for my brand new bionic knee and the promise of a more active and pain free lifestyle!
And of course I’m grateful for autumn- my favorite season!
We were fortunate to be in Flagstaff a couple weeks ago on a beautiful Fall day when the aspens were in all their glory. It made my heart happy to see so many other people up at Snowbowl, late on a weekday afternoon- everyone there just to catch the late afternoon sun hitting the aspens. Unforgettable!
I shot this photo in Eagle River, Alaska while out for a walk with the family. Yes, the blur was on purpose; I knew intentional camera movement was one of the upcoming topics for my photo club. I want to do more of this- the results are somewhat unpredictable, but fun!
