This is Emily, a Swainson’s Hawk, who posed so nicely for this portrait that I decided on an old-fashioned look for the editing. Normally I dislike sepia, but it seemed to suit the image.

Summer flower at the Desert Botanical Garden #flowersofinstagram
A prickly pear cactus leaf appeared in our backyard a year or two ago- we had not planted it and had no others in our backyard. This year it got more leaves and a couple dozen buds which are now opening. A nice surprise!
An oldie taken back when our son was single and living in San Diego.
