The full winter moon was obscured by clouds when we got home last night- and I kept thinking about the photo I missed earlier as it rose. But all the same, I’m glad to have witnessed the timeless beauty of this winter solstice moon.
No, I didn’t see the meteor shower.

Last month I did take some family photos- here is my favorite of Caleb and his mommy and daddy.
It’s Caleb! I didn’t take too many photos with the Nikon (we were only there for a day and a half), but I do have some more from my iPhone I will upload in a day or two. I had big hopes of a family photo with the Santa hats, but it didn’t happen. No matter- he is cute in all his outfits! And the visit was not about taking photos anyway.
Caleb is on the verge of crawling- on the late side like his Daddy and his cousin Miles. He pushes up and then starts “swimming”- kicking his feet like crazy. He does get around with a modified army crawl. He doesn’t yet have the idea of going onto his knees except when going from sitting to scooting. He is interested in everything and is a happy, smiling boy who likes everyone. A grandparent delight!

We just returned from a very quick trip to Southern California to do a mini-Christmas celebration with my son and family for Christmas. The Christmas decorations at the mall where we ate dinner were amazing!

If you’ve been reading this blog for awhile, you’ve noticed that, over the months before and after our third grandson’s birth, I’ve grown to love beach photography . So here I am with my ever supportive photography buddy (AKA husband) as I take a break from photographing houses along Newport Beach in order to capture our late afternoon shadows. You will notice I am in street clothes as always – Gidget I am not. . .
This is the week my photo series is due. I abandoned my alone-in-a-crowd beach series and opted for the very simple wabi sabi series. Each photo illustrates one (or more) aspect of wabi sabi. Such basic photos are not the norm in this very advanced group, so I hope I don’t get in trouble!
This was taken at West Fork in Oak Creek Canyon a month or two ago. The leaves had just started turning- and it was a drizzly day, unfortunately.
This photo was also taken at the Eagle River Nature Center and is probably close to what Alaska looks like right now. It was taken on our Thanksgiving visit in 2016.
One of our favorite places to walk is the Nature Center in Eagle River- a gateway to Chugach State Park. I have posted many photos taken there in the last couple years. It’s always beautiful, and it’s about five minutes from our daughter’s house!.
