Day 137- A Night at the Opera

No, I’m not going to the opera- but I photographed my great-grandmother’s opera-going gear for this week’s vintage theme for Kim Klassen’s Texture Tuesday.  I know the opera glasses are hers (they have her initials) and I’m pretty certain about the fan.  I am not sure about the money holder in the foreground.  It has spots for coins, as well as a money clip inside.  The initial on the case is B (for Bean, I believe)- and it could have belonged to her husband, Charles H. Bean- or even his father.

I used two layers of Kim’s luminous texture for this image.

  1. perfect set up for the texture and how wonderful to have these heirlooms

~ as for the Red Tail Hawk ~ he was only about 15 maybe 20 feet away and I was using my 28 -300mm. At the refuge there is an 8 mile road which travels through the wetlands. I/ we drive the trail and 100s of birds can be seen on either side of the trail. It is a stopping ground for many migrating birds as this is where many horseshoe crabs lay their eggs. The eggs are a huge source of, much needed, fat and protein for the migrating birds. Last evening to our surprise this beauty was sitting on a sign in clear site. B stopped the car and I shot 69 photos out the downed window. I have never been at close to a hawk before. It was awesome!

  2. Definitely looks like a trip to the opera. Lovely compo. Great texturing. Enjoyed the view! Happy Tues.
