Yet another bird image…

Here is another image in my Bird by Bird series- as yet untitled. I’ve had a lot of fun with this series!

This particular image, which started out as a multiple exposure has gone through several iterations. Once this color combination emerged, I knew I was on the right track for what I wanted to create. But I have another version too- I always am attracted to the simplicity of a square crop.

Wool gathering

My goal today was to get some genealogy research done, but I can’t seem to get my thoughts together.

So I’m WOOL GATHERING- an expression from my childhood. There are barely any signs of the approach of autumn here, but I’m already daydreaming of bare branches and winter moons. So here’s a little winter fantasy for today.

Wild Iris

Summer came late to Alaska this year. The usual fireweed was just getting ready to bloom while we were there last month, but we were consoled by the beautiful wild iris. This multiple exposure was taken along the shoreline of Crooked Lake, where my daughter’s family has a cabin.

Forest Lights

We have just returned from Alaska, where we had a delightful visit with our daughter’s family. Our grandsons are growing up- almost 13 and almost 16! Photography was not a focus of this trip, but I did manage to get some photos of the boys and some multiple exposure abstracts while we stayed at their lakeside cabin.

Doors, flowers, color. . .

and don’t forget HISTORY! Tucson’s Barrio Viejo is a magnet for Southwest photographers and never disappoints, even with construction happening. Many of the historic buildings have been updated and restored but keep the character of the original barrio. This is a multiple exposure of two houses, still with their cracks and imperfections.

Nesting

I took this in-camera multiple exposure several months ago. The bird was gathering nesting materials and going back and forth to the hole in the saguaro. I wasn’t sure about it as a multiple exposure at first, but it has grown on me.

Colors of the Barrio

Last week we took a mini-vacation to Tucson and stayed in a rental right on the edge of the Barrio Viejo. Despite the heat, we took walks and spent time admiring the colorful old houses in the neighborhood. Today’s abstract is a multiple exposure tribute to the colors of the Barrio- I think the only color missing is purple.

Geometry

Another photo from our very short stop at the outlet mall… who knew I’d create something I like from an outlet mall???

This is started as an in-camera multiple exposure of a fountain and an archway.

Saguaros

Tuesday we made our last (fingers crossed!) trip to Phoenix for medical appointments for my husband’s back. It’s annoying and worrisome that doctors are leaving our town and that we sometimes have to make the almost 2 hour trek down the mountains for medical care. We have been spending the night each time and adding on something fun to the trips to make it more enjoyable each time.

On the way there we made our usual stop at the outlet mall for a short break- and this time I took the time to practice doing in-camera multiple exposures of the saguaros by the parking lot. Because my camera doesn’t have all the bells and whistles for multiple exposure, I often get discouraged and give up doing it in camera. However, this time I think I got a good result and enjoyed editing it pretty quickly in Photoshop.
