I enjoyed creating multiple iterations of a Trader Joe’s bouquet of white tulips a couple weeks ago. This is one of my favorites- made by layering a couple shots of the flowers as a background.

A couple weeks ago we had a short stay down in “the valley” (what Arizonans refer to as the Phoenix area) and stayed an extra day to avoid returning home during the massive snowstorm. After a morning spent birdwatching at Gilbert Water Ranch, we spent some time walking through the Roosevelt Row area of Phoenix, the downtown art district with murals, galleries and shops.
This abstract was created by combining two images- shadows on an alley wall and a mirrored wall installation.

This was taken on our trip to Flagstaff last month. It was VERY cold, but the sun was out casting long shadows on the snow.
In camera multiple exposure

Actually, winter is HERE- as most of the country can testify. Arizona has escaped the bomb cyclone of snow and below freezing temperatures, but rain and snow are now hitting the high country, with just rain here (so far). Fingers and toes crossed that the Phoenix area (where we will be meeting our kids) will be warmer and drier.
Good thoughts sent out to all those stranded due to flight cancellations!

I took so many multiple exposure shots while at Newport Beach! Here’s another- the pier.

or… how palm trees are born…
Having fun with multiple exposures! This is definitely on the very edge of what I like to create.

A few days ago, the wind blew some beautiful leaves into our driveway. I remembered making some images a few years ago of flowers I had frozen and decided to try the process with leaves. I am currently working on creating abstracts using in-camera multiple exposures, and I find it interesting how the doubly exposed ice and leaves interacted with each other to create this abstract image.

Memories of last year’s trek up the hill to Flagstaff to visit the aspen groves

I spent some time today doodling with a pumpkin image I took at Trader Joe’s a week ago. The historic storm battering Canada’s maritime provinces must have been on my mind as I edited this- hence, Pumpkin Storm.

Some of my favorite images (and memories) come from last summer’s vacation in Alaska when we celebrated our fiftieth anniversary. I have a multitude of photos still to be processed, and I love dipping into the collection and finding new images to create. This one is two photos taken within minutes of each other and layered in Photoshop.

If you seen eryngium, you might hesitate to call it a flower. It looks like a thistle, but is supposed to be an herb, common name sea holly. Although I took many shots, the one I like best is this multiple exposure with a bit of intentional camera movement on one layer.

December impressions.

We have just returned from an overnight to Flagstaff, where we visited Aspen Corner in sunshine one day and in snow the next. The image above is from our previous visit; newer images will be posted after I have time to process them. Autumn has fully arrived- and Winter is on its way!

Here is yet another image from our last trip up to Flagstaff. We are hoping to get up there again this week; there’s a chance of snow, so fingers crossed!
