Tumbling

One of the new experiences we’ve had since we’ve moved to Arizona is tumbleweeds in our yard.  Last week we discovered a new one, and before my husband could capture it for yard waste, I picked it up with gloved hands to take into my garage studio for some macro and still life shots.

The photos below (showing how sharp and prickly these guys are!) were taken with the Lensbaby Sweet 35 with macro converters.  All have Kim’s kk_organic preset applied.

  1. The 35 is just one of the best optics for macros along with the double glass Oh shoot I have so many favorites for macro with the Lensbaby it is hard to pick a favorite, the soft focus the single glass the Sweet 50 and even the Edge 80. These with the coloring of the weed and background are so outstanding. Lovely series of 3. I remember when I first made a trip to the West with my Mom and Dad I was around 7 years and being so impressed with the tumbling weeds and especially when they would blow around in the wind.

  2. Loving…LOVING your photos. That shy, sweet, intelligent and really kind teenager sitting across the row from me in class, 50 years later is sharing her joy with us…and I get to see it. I’d love to critique the macro shots of the tumbleweed, but all I can think of is …THEM. ANYway, before I forget, I also GREATLY appreciate all your explanations too. So, Thank you…THANKYOU 🙂
