I love how the Lensbaby Velvet 56 produces a painterly image straight out of camera! I added a low opacity texture on the background- but that’s just because I can never leave well enough alone.

In the Morning
We have been having extremely windy days recently! In fact, it was so windy that I couldn’t photograph flowers outside- so I propped this one in the window to get the best light I could. With the addition of three textures, I’m happy with the resulting image.

Not Even Close
It is finally Spring here in Prescott. The trees have leaves, our birds are building nests, flowers are in bloom, and cottonwood fluff is floating in the sky like snowflakes- playing havoc with everyone’s allergies. Our irises are blooming, but getting a satisfactory shot has been challenging. I tried several times and finally settled on this composition. I took the image into Topaz Studio and ended up with a look that is not even close to my original image- but I like it better.

Exotic
I can remember a time when orchids were considered exotic- and I only saw them in corsages, which I thought were pretty ugly. Now you can buy them at the grocery store, although I’m sure many species ARE exotic and are only available from specialty nurseries. I like them now, although I still think they look like they have mean faces.

Pastel
A return to doing what I love- soft and dreamy flowers. For this one I used my Lensbaby Velvet 56, which I have never fully explored. When I joined my photo group, it seemed that there was such an emphasis on sharpness- that I started working on my landscape photography more and more- and I mostly left my lensbabies behind. It has been fun this week to once more embrace my love of BLUR!

Iconic
One of the iconic Alaska views- mountains and trees with fireweed in the foreground. I couldn’t manage to frame it with the Matanuska Glacier as a background (I might have fallen off a cliff. . .), so I settled on this view. Fireweed is just about everywhere in Alaska at this time of year.
